How can I feel bad when I'm listening to The Vaccines?

I just wrote a post that was so self-pitying I deleted it.

I'm not even feeling that self-pitying, so I really don't know where those words came from.

It's wet and it's grey, and I was supposed to be having coffee with a friend. When that fell through, I eagerly pulled out my WIP, sat at the table (see, very proper, no slouching on the sofa... I was reading to work), and then... nothing. Which is why my deleted post was so whinny.

So, here's a song instead...

Don't forget the Imaginary Friend Bloghop this coming Friday. You can still sign up here.

  2. Aw. We all have those moments. Music always acts as a great "pick me up" when I'm feeling down too. :)

Already all signed up for the blog hop. Can't wait to hear about everyone's imaginary friends.

  3. It happens to everyone. I say use the sorrow. Skip ahead to a sad part of the story and write that scene.

    1. As a pantser, I'm not entirely sure what the sad parts are at the moment :-/

    1. It actually hadn't occurred to me how fitting the video is. So much rain and mud today on my day off, but it was lovely and sunny yesterday when I was working - typical!

    1. Self-pity is such a waste of time, I have no idea why my words were coming out that way!

    1. As tomorrow is today, I can announce that I met a friend for coffee, did some urgent shopping, sat in a doctor's waiting room for far too long, saw my mother and went to the gym... and didn't look at a single page of my novel. Tomorrow... I'll get to it tomorrow :-)

  11. Those "nothing" moments can make a gal mopey! But I personally love a wet grey day - we are in the midst of summer here and I'm so so so so over it!

    1. I'm like that too. I'm dreaming of summer dresses, but I know I'll be longing for woolly tights by July!

Hope you get going soon. :-)

  16. I love The Vaccines.

I have those moments. I listen to music, nap, write, or watch a favorite show. Oh, and there are cute cat and dog videos out there as well.

  18. The Vaccines are awesome. I try my best to avoid self-pity, but sometimes it can really take over. Especially during these dreary and grey winter days! Or maybe I just use the weather as my excuse to whine LOL.

    1. It was a lot sunnier today, so I feel better. Did housework with the windows open instead of writing, but at least it was something useful :-)

  19. I doubt it was as whinny as you thought. But the song is a nice touch too. See you tomorrow at the hop!

  20. I have my post all ready for your hop. :) Hope your mood is passing. I have those moods, too. Although, today I was in a pissed off, impatient mood. I think it's finally starting to subside. If I eat some chocolate, it will probably disappear.

    1. Yes, I saw your Facebook post :-) Chocolate is technically medicine... until my scales started to tell me I was having too much medicine!!

Looking forward to the hop tomorrow!!

  22. From time to time I allow myself to be whinny, but then I am a very strange kind of woman :). Usually when I am melancholic the writing is marvelous...I hope you'll feel better soon Annalisa.

  23. Thanks for the song post! I find that I'm pretty whiny lately, and it has nothing to do with the weather. I do find that I write a lot when I get really anxious though, so maybe that's the key for me.

Good luck, and I hope you can reschedule that coffee.
